Equal Opportunity: Education for All

The ECA Code of Ethics specifically lays down the framework to provide early
childhood professionals to remind them of their responsibilities. At the heart of the guidelines
is the implied theme that resonates all throughout the discussion: early education is crucial
to all children no matter the differences they may have. Throughout the historical evolution of
education is the battle of giving access to children of diverse backgrounds may they be
originating from different societal upbringings with linguistic differences. The Code of ethics
seeks to address the problem of discrimination by reiterating all throughout and between the
lines that the education it envisions is inclusive of all children: whether they be of white,
yellow, brown, or black race. It envisions early education for ALL children which is clearly
reflective of equal opportunity. The phenomenon of globalization has indeed blurred the lines
of what is local and what is global. Transnational boundaries are beginning to emerge which
creates a scenario where all cultures, nationalities, and people from all walks of life combine
and interact with each other. Because of this development, what is being visualized is an
early education system that also seeks to cater to the needs of the globalized environment
the core of which is to reconcile the seeming differences of each child through using their
common desire to learn while having fun.
