The Education Undergraduate Society arranges and provides Professional Development
workshops for education students at the University of Lethbridge. This letter is written at the
request of Charlotte Willy who attended the following seminars during the months of
January and February of 2016:
Leonard Sproule: “CTS: What It Is and How Can I Get Involved”
This session will focus on educating students on what the CTS program is and its associated resources
which will help you see where your talents fit into the grand scheme of CTS. The CTS program has
hundreds of class options. Afier this session you will have the resources and beginner's know-how
needed to move towards CTS.
Broc Higginson: “Montessori Schools”
‘Come and hear from a local principle that leads Fleetwood-Bawden school here in Lethbridge.
Fleetwood-Bawden is a Montessori school and in this session he will introduce you to what makes this
type of school unique. Come and see if this type of school fits your skills and professional endeavors.
Amy von Heyking: “Teaching in Faith-based Schools in Alberta”
Alberta's education system offers a range of fully publicly-funded and private faith-based school options
for our students. This session will examine faith-based schooling in Alberta from the perspective of those
who may be interested in teaching in these contexts. It will also share the results of the first research
study of faith-based schools in Canada and their effectiveness in terms of graduates’ academic
achievements and their engagement in civic life
