River-Sea Vessel Collision Prevention Rules

River-sea vessels covered under this notification must comply with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea from 1972 as amended. For river-sea vessels under 1600 GT, the forward mast light must be at a maximum height of 6 meters, and all other lights must be positioned accordingly based on the height of the forward mast light or the vessel's beam, whichever is higher.

ANNEX V

To the Notification
(Stipulations in exemption of Section 285 of M.S. Act)

Prevention of Collisions

1.1

River-sea vessels under this Notification shall comply with requirements of


International Regulations for Prevention of Collisions at Sea (COLREG), 1972 as
amended.

1.2

For river-sea vessels under this Notification of less than 1600 GT, positioning of the
lights shall be as follows:
(i)

forward mast light shall be at a maximum height of 6m;

(ii)

all the other lights shall be positioned accordingly (as a function of the height
of the forward mast light or beam, whichever is higher)
