A very good evening I bid to adjudicators, time keeper, opposition bench and all of the

members of the floor. We from the government team strongly support the motion today This
House Would Allow Reporters to report true events because of the various reasons.
For our opinion, it is some part of reporters right to report all the issue clearly without
any barrier. Besides that, Mass media freedom is one of the major factor of the freedom of
speech and it is a main element for ensuring other civil rights and freedoms. The freedom of
the press involves the possibility to freely discuss and criticize the activities of the authorities,
civil and private structures.
Furthermore, it is very important for people to get a real picture about an issue
highlighted. This is also important because to ensure the civil people can understand correctly
about any particular issues. The misunderstanding about certain issues will cause many other
problem in society. The problems that I mean has already occurred in our nation many times
such as the issue that involving our political issues, international issue, education issue and
many more.
For our information, the issue of reporters freedom has formed the Freedom Of
Information Bill in our parliament before. However that Bill still cannot been approved because
of some kind of problems. The enactment has been draftediIn some state such as Selangor.
Base on official statement that we can get from Selangor government website, Freedom of
Information Enactment has been drafted on 2011 and has been implemented on 2013. This
implementation from the state legislative will also encourage its implementation at national
level. For addition, to reinforce the government's argument I provide some of supportive
opinion from a lawyer named Syahredzan Johan, he agree with the motion today. His article
that has been published in sinar harian newspaper dated 15 Jun 2015, Syahredzan said,
freedom of information is very important for democracy. Besides that by another analysis that
has been created by Institute for Leadership and Development Studies (LEAD) also agree with
the above statement. From those evidence, we can conclude that the government stand is
correct.
In a nutshell, we from the government team stand strong with the motion as a measure
of upholding the right of reporters and society. That all for my submissions.
