Note on Example-1 of the note on technique of virtual work

It is important to note that lengths of the chords must remain constant during turning of the rod.
Otherwise, there will be change in the tensions in the cord, which will lead to change in the
internal energy of the system and the principle of virtual work will fail. That such a rotation is
possible can be shown in the figure below where I have rotated the triangle , by angle
in anticlockwise direction, without changing any of its dimension and keeping point fixed.
Note that and are the mid points of the lines and respectively. I have marked
and on the figure. So I have not violated the conditions needed to apply virtual work
principle.
