DRYERS:

BETWEEN

ROTARY

AND

DRUM

ROTARY DRYERS

DRUM DRYERS

The drying process occurs by

diffusion.
Rotary dryers are available in
in both direct contact type and
indirect contact types.
Rotary dryers are used for
solids
and
pastes
mainly
(sometimes liquids as well).
The maintenance cost of rotary
dryers is low.
Rotary dryers are not very
flexible in operation.

The drying process in drum

dryers occurs by conduction.
The drum dryers are of only
the indirect contact type.

The rotary dryer is suitable for

drying metal and non-metallic
materials, clay in the cement
industry and coal slime in the
coal mining industry.
It has the features of high
production
efficiency
and
convenient operation and the
advantages
of
reasonable
structure, good manufacturing,
high output and low energy
consumption.

On the other hand, drum

dryers are used for solutions
and slurries.
The maintenance cost of drum
dryers is high.
Drum dryers are highly flexible
(or adaptable) as they can vary
according to the size of
operation, by the number of
drum as compared to rotary
dryers.
It is widely used in such fields
as
metallurgy,
building
material, chemistry, fertilizer,
sand, clay and kaolin.
This equipment adopts selfaligning tug structure and the
combination of the tug and
rolling ring is good, thus
greatly reducing the abrasion
and consumption of kinetic
energy.
The
overload-proof
ability is high and the drum is

stable in operation and high in

reliability.
