If you hang on to something, then:

i)

You hold it very tightly.

ii)

You do not let go.

iii)

You grasp onto it & refuse to let go.

Example 1
As hurricane Matthew approached the tiny
island of Tybee, most of the 3000 residents quickly
evacuated.
However, a small number of locals refused to move & decided
to hang on & try to survive the storm.
One of the men, Mr Steve Todd, took refuge in the local hotel
which he said was one of the safest buildings on the island.

28 year old, Sydney Swans player of the year, Mr Josh
Kennedy, says that he does not want to retire just yet.
Josh said:
I just want to try & hang on & be part of things in the

have done something wrong, or foolish.
When you feel ashamed you dont want other
people to know what you have done.
You may also feel sadness, guilt, or disappointment in
yourself.
You just want to hide.
You feel embarrassed.

An annual survey of girls living in the UK has
revealed that 40% of 7-10 year old girls say
they feel they are not pretty enough, & 25%
feel they need to be perfect.
1 in 6 girls feels ashamed or embarrassed of how they look.

life of American teenager, Ms Rachel Joy Scott,
who died in the Columbine High School massacre
in Colorado in 1999. Rachel was the first of 13 students killed that
day. Rachel was an active Christian who called Jesus her best
friend.
