Well-stream may consist of crude oil, gas, condensates, water and various

contaminants. Therefore the chose part of the stages during oil and gas production is
separators which is to split the flow into desirable fractions. The main separator shown here
are gravity types. The production choke reduces well pressure to the HP manifold and the
first stage separator to about 3-5 MPa. Inlet temperature is often in the range of 100-150 oC.
The pressure is often reduces in several stages, in the instance three stages are used to allow
the controlled separation of volatile components. The idea is to achieve maximum liquid
recovery and stabilized oil and gas and to separate water. A 45,000 bpd design production
with gas and 40% water cut will give about 10 m3 from the wellheads per minute. The
separator has to be about 100 m3, a cylinder 3 meters in diameter and 14 meters in length at
the rated operating pressure. Typically, the oil must have less than 1% (by volume) water and
less than 5 lbm water/MMscf gas. Deisgn liquid flowrate up to 1500m 3/d. Design Gas rate up
to 190 000 m3/d
