Question 1: Derive shpae functions for a six-noded triangular element in global
Cartesian coordinate system using classical method. (Hint: assume a quadratic
trial solution using Pascals traingle)
Question 2:
Derive shape functions of a four noded quadrilateral element in global
Cartesian coordinate system. (Hint: assume a linear trial solution using
Pascals traingle)
Derive shape functions of a four noded quadrilateral element in natural
coordinate system. Use tensor product method.
Derive the derivatives of the shape functions and the Bmatrix of fournode quadrilateral element
Plot the shape functions using matlab.
Question 3: Given the nine-node quadrilateral element as shown in figure 1.
Construct element shape functions by the tensor product method
if the temperature field at nodes 2 and 3 is 1o C and zero at all other
boundary nodes, what is the temperature at = 0.5, = 0.0?
