Document Interpretation 5 Reflection
For my reflection, I choose the Document Interpretation 5: Moral Reform Movements
assignment from week 6. I choose to do this assignment considering I agree with the two women
in the document who are fighting for womens rights. The skills that I have learned in this
assignment helped me develop more knowledge for the topic. This document have me an idea of
how women were being treating before the Declaration of Independence. I have gained more
insights on how men always thought they were more superior stripping human rights against
women. This assignment has expanded my understanding providing me with better academic
skills. I feel like I have improved a lot because, now, I am able to interpret language from the last
when words and sentences were different. The thing I would change about this assignment is talk
more about how I would talk more about my personal views on this topic. In the document, I
have only interpreted it and answered the questions that was given. This document made me
realize how difficult it was to be a woman compared to a man. On the other hand, I am grateful
for the outcome of today in society where woman and man are being treated equally, or ever so
more equally than during the times as the women in the document. Looking over the document, I
have realized how I can interpret this into life everyday where no man should think they will
always be greater than any women. In todays society, there is a law in the Bill of Rights were
women are prohibited from sexual discrimination. A place where women pertains equal
opportunities in the work force just as much of an opportunity a man would. Reflection back on

the document, it was brave for Elizabeth Cody Staton and Lucretia Motto to express how women
were being discriminated by. This document has further my knowledge and I hope I will get to
use it in another assignment one day.
