ThepomegranateoriginatedintheregionofmoderndayIranandhas
beencultivatedsinceancienttimesthroughouttheMediterraneanregion
andnorthernIndia.[3]ItwasintroducedintoSpanishAmericainthelate
16thcenturyandCaliforniabySpanishsettlersin1769.[3]
