(DDC),hasdraftedaBill,withtheobjectivetoimplementthe
recommendationsoftheJusticeJSVermaCommitteeonwomen
safety,butitactuallyaimstostrengthentheDelhiCommissionfor
Women(DCW).
TheBillhassuggestedmoreadministrativeandjudicialpowersto
theDCWatparwithaCivilCourt.
TheDDCteamafterconsultationwithallstakeholdershasdrafted
thisBill.Wehaveincorporatedalltherecommendationsofthe
JusticeJSVermaCommitteereport,DDCvicechairpersonAshish
Khetansaid.
AccordingtoDDCofficials,theBillproposestoprovidea
comprehensiveframeworktowomenresidinginDelhitoexercise
theirfundamentalrightsguaranteedbytheConstitution.TheDDC
hasproposedtogivemoreteethtotheDCWbygivingadditional
administrativeandjudicialpowers.Ithasalsoproposedthatthe
DCWwillworkasasinglewindowinwomenrelatedmatter.Itplans
toexpandtheambitoftheDCWtotakepenalactiontosecure
womensaccesstotherights,andtoawardcompensationincaseof
violationofrightsandgrossnegligenceonthepartoftheState..

whichcouldnotbeimplementedproperly,sowewillhaveapublic
consultationonimplementationofthese,Mr.Khetansaid.
ChiefMinisterArvindKejriwalinthespecialDelhiAssemblysession
onMondayhadtalkedabouttheBill.TheDDCwilltakesuggestions
ontheBillonlineandaccordingly,tweakit.
