Goal #1 Provide a learning environment that encourages creativity


Objectives:
- Include a creative component in activities and assessments
- Set up tasks that focus on collaboration skills
- Allow students to bring their own interests into the classroom
- Connect what students learn and have them apply it to their own lives
Goal #2 Help students improve their self-management skills
Objectives:
- Model self-management skills by keeping a class calendar, writing down the agenda,
talking about health, etc.
- Praise students who show initiative and preparedness for class
- Foster social and emotional development through class activities/discussions
Goal #3 Find out what interests my students in order to engage them in learning
Objectives:
- Listen to conversations that students participate in
- Incorporate arts and culture into lessons
- Create lessons that accommodate multimodal ways of learning

Personal
1. What are my strengths?
- Strong social skills good at helping others, approachable, empathetic
- Good organizational skills
- Can take on responsibilities and show leadership
2. What would I like to work on?
- Establishing teacher presence and authority
- Confidence in speaking up, making myself heard
3. Why did I choose Education?
I was inspired by all the great teachers that I have had. It is also a profession
where you can have a meaningful impact on people and come away with
something new every day.
Educational
1. What have I learned since entering the Education Faculty?
The importance of cultivating relationships with everyone in the school community
and knowing where to find support.
2. What questions do you have about education?
How to deal with the politics of education so that people feel empowered to
change the status quo?
How can I increase students interests and learning in subjects that are not
typically taught in school but I personally feel are important? (e.g. music, physical
education, linguistics, economics)
Especially with the IB program, how can I address concerns about elitism in
education?
3. What are my fundamental beliefs about education?
Students should receive a well-founded and well-rounded education
Education must focus on issues of equity
A person should feel inspired by what they learn; they should take what they know
and use it beyond the classroom for something they are passionate about
