NatWest Insurance Services (NWIS) is one of the largest independent insurance

intermediaries in the UK and is wholly owned by National Westminster Bank. The
organization has 30 different operational systems.
National Westminster Insurance Services need statistics, but information about
the key drivers of the business. A large database to hold all the data in a common format
make it available to a range of tools. The prototype using data from the household
claims department to prove the concept of migrating data from one system to another
and then interrogating it. It shifted our focus from moving data to the quality of data.
Most users access it through specialized software, which creates different view of
business performance from the data.
There are outline has been taken by National Westminster Insurance Services is
to refined and cleaned it en route the quality of data. A standard set of data definitions
and terminology that everybody understands. The information management group was
set up to focus on best-practice in information usage.
The main benefit is being able to manage a database without investing millions
of pounds. The database can manage to highlight our awareness of data and how it is
being used in the business. It has brought us more business focus.
In conclusion, the new operational system must be benefit for us and exploit the
information.
