Ok, said the captain. What do you guys want 6*10^23 units of?

Chocomole exclaimed
everyone on deck. The captain shrugged. Sure, that works as a representative particle. I can get
that many chocolate bars on board, but dont blame me if you get sick guys. Less than an hour
later, the ship was filled full of chocolates and everyone was gorging on them. After 10
chocolates, Amoleia began to feel weird. I dont feel so good she started to say.
Amoleia woke up with a start.Oh thank god that was just a dream. she exclaimed. They
were aboard the S.S Avogadro. Land ho! someone above shouted. All claws on deck! She
bumped her furry head and got up dizzily. She looked over towards the clock. It read 6:02am.
She sighed; they had just gone to sleep a little while ago. They've never gone on deck during the
daytime before; this must be important. Over here sailor! the Captain called out to her.
Amoleia scurried over as quickly as she could, the Captain never talked to her before.
He handed her a slip of some sort of paper.
She gasped. A treasure map? She asked curiously. Yes, the Treasure of Avogadro. Thats why
were here, the Captain grunted. Legend says he hid 6*10^23 of gold nuggets on this island in
honor of his number. Amedia blinked and asked What's his number? The captain yawned and
answered dismissivelyIts nothing Amoleia. Just another way to say 6*10^23 units. She saw
something else on the paper, something with an S but she didnt think to ask the captain about it.
She started to march with the rest of the group in search of the treasure. The group was excited at
first, but became considerably less so when hours flew by with no sight of treasure. Suddenly,
she stumbled across a box. OPEN IT!everyone shouted it unison. She did promptly, but the
only thing inside was a sheet of paper that said 19 grams of fluorine=mole. Suddenly, the whole
group of 5 fell straight onto a deep hole.Where are we? Jim asked fearfully. No One knew,
until the captain spoke up.There are 22.4 L of fluorine in here. More than enough to make you

guys die slowly. Have fun dying, while I go claim the treasure, he smirked, and then promptly
disappeared.
What, where did he go? Sebastian asked. I DONT KNOW MAN, BUT WE GOTTA GET
OUTTA HERE, FLUORINE IS POISONOUS.Amoleia exclaimed. Suddenly a sign popped up,
It said, in bold lettersYou can get out, if you can tell me how many grams of mole are in this
underground chamber. Everyone started guessing numbers, until Amoleia remembered a lecture
given by her chemistry teacher.Standard temperature and pressure (STP) is defined as 0C
(273.15 K) and 1 atm of pressure. At STP, one mole (6.02 1023 representative particles) of any
gas occupies a volume of 22.4 L Dr.Williams had taught one day. Amoleia was glad that she had
decided to pay attention that day. She realize that that the mass was 19 grams, because there was
one mole units of fluorine in the chamber, and that could be converted to 19 grams like the paper
in the box told her. She shouted 19, but with no success. Suddenly, Dr. Williams popped into her
brain again. Always remember to put units in your answers she had said. Amoleia understood,
and said.. 19 grams. The Sign changed, to saying CORRECT, but suddenly, she began to feel
dizzy again.
Amelia, you alright? the captain exclaimed. She realized she had been choking and had
momentarily passed out. Slow down on the pace kid. the captain instructed, Fluorine
chocolates are supposed to be eaten one by one for them to take effect...
