Assemble Your Thesis Statement


Your thesis statement lets your reader know what your main ideas are before you delve into them. It
appears at the end of the introduction paragraph, and then it is restated at the beginning of the
conclusion paragraph.

Example (using Animal Farm):
Topic- Animal Farm is an allegory relating a story of farm animals to the Russian Revolution.
Main Idea A- Animal War: Warfare takes place throughout the novel as the animals revolt.
Main Idea B- Political Revolt: Communism is the main idea behind the animals revolution.
Main Idea C- Animals are People Too: Key Figures from the Russian Revolution are represented by
animals in Animal Farm.
Thesis Statement- George Orwells Animal Farm is clearly a direct allegory to the events of the Russian
Revolution as noted by the aligning warfare, the presence of Communism, and the connections between
the characters and the key figures of the time.
