Dear Mr. Schaefer:

My name is Abby, and I am a 22 year-old from Katy, Texas. Im
pursuing a 4-8th Grade Generalist degree. Ive been involved in several
organizations on campus including Delta Gamma, FOCUS, H.E.A.T., and
the Texas State Hide and Seek Club. In my spare time, you could find
me paddle boarding, pinteresting, reading a book, or volunteering at
PAWs Animal Shelter.
I decided to teach middle school because that age is such an influential
stage of a person's life that I feel is often overlooked. The students at
this age are figuring out who they are, and are dabbling in different
interest and social groups. Its the perfect time for a teacher or mentor
to jump in and encourage them to try things they never thought they
could do, or to get them involved in something meaningful. I believe all
content areas are very important in their own ways, so I decided why
not learn them all!
Being a camp counselor for 3 summers was one of the greatest
experiences of my life. I worked at the Great Adventure Camp in Cat
Springs, Texas. This past summer I was a preschool teacher at Zwietes
Haus School of Wimberley. I love the babies and young children I
worked with, and leaving them to go back to school was very tough.
These experiences have taught me how to stay patient and caring
through even the toughest of situations. I really hope to learn more
classroom management strategies this semester in my first field block.
Sincerely:

Abby OMalley
P.S. This is my dog Tex.
