How to Use Sabian Symbols

If you are interested in astrology, you may also be interested in Sabian symbols. Sabian symbols were created by
Marc Jones and Elise Wheeler in 1925 as a way to visually interpret each of the 360 degrees of the astrogological
signs.

Prepare your astrological birth chart.

Determine the Sabian symbol for each planet.
Interpret each symbol. Keep in mind the Sabian keyword for each planet:
o Sun - Purpose
o Moon - Feeling
o Mars - Initiative
o Venus - Acquisitiveness
o Mercury - Mentality
o Jupiter - Enthusiasm
o Saturn - Sensitiveness
o Uranus - Independence
o Neptune - Obligation
o Pluto - Obsession

Determine the degree of the sun at sunrise. This will change depending on your location in the world.
Figure out the corresponding Sabian symbol.
Read and interpret the Sabian symbol. This symbol reflects the objective side: events, interactions with
others.

Determine the degree of the moon at moonrise. This will change depending on your location in the
world.
Figure out the corresponding Sabian symbol.
Read and interpret the Sabian symbol. This symbol reflects the subjective side: emotions, attitudes.

Choose a question. Open-ended questions are better than yes/no questions.

Determine the Sabian symbol.

Tips

A large part of the interpretation lies within your individual mind. Different people may view and interpret
the same symbol differently, based on their beliefs and experiences.

Journal your experiences with the Sabian symbols. If you read over previous encounters, you may receive
more insights and ideas about each symbol, and how it relates to you.
