Ceramic Coatings.

Materials such as powders of hard metals, aluminum oxide, and zirconium oxide are
applied to a substrate at room temperature by means of binders. These coatings act as
thermal barriers and have been applied (usually by thermal spraying techniques) to hotextrusion dies, turbine blades, diesel-engine components, and nozzles for rocket motors
to extend the life of these components. They also are used for electrical-resistance
