Motorcycle Diaries: The Accidental Entry
Canesio Alombro or fondly called as Dodong is a father of three children and the
husband of Gigie. On the morning of December 24, 2008, Dodong decided to go to
Heights to get his meat order from his friend for the Noche Buena. When he was
heading home, he took the road near the Capitol site. There are many diverging roads
in the area. Vehicles come and go using the different paths. While Dodong was driving
his motorcycle from the Regional Trial Court building heading to the Philippine Red
Cross building, he encountered an unfortunate accident.
On one of the roads, there was a vehicle whose speed is faster than that was
required by the law. On the other road, a pedestrian was trying to cross the road. In an
attempt not to be hit by the speeding vehicle, the pedestrian ran. However, what the
flustered pedestrian did not realize was that Dodong was driving on the same path that
he was going. Surprised, Dodong was unable to control his motorcycle thus both
Dodong and the pedestrian collided with each other.
The motorcycle gashed the leg of the pedestrian. On the other hand, Dodongs
face was covered with blood because the side mirror of the motorcycle hit him. Luckily,
Dodongs friend was just right around the corner. He immediately recognized Dodong
and helped him. Both Dodong and the pedestrian were sent to the hospital to seek for
medical treatment. Dodong had to have four stitches on his right eyebrow. His face,
arms and legs also had bruises.

Due to the accident, Dodong wasnt able to go to work for about two weeks. The
doctor recommended Dodong to get some rest in order for his body to heal. It wasnt an
easy ordeal for Dodong. Even the slightest movement already hurts him. It took quite a
long time for Dodong to recover. The care and support from his family helped lessen his
burden.
Because of the accident, Dodong realized that it is very important to drive
carefully and to follow the rules provided to us by the state on how to drive properly.
