One Vision Haiti is pleased to reaffirm our long-standing

partnership with IMAT-International Medical Assistance

Team in response to Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts.
IMAT was instrumental in response to the 2010 earthquake
and the ensuing Cholera epidemic; operating three and
providing oversight for additional Cholera Treatment
Centers. More recently, IMAT has constructed public
bathroom facilities, in effort to improve sanitation
conditions. Executive Director, Mr. Chris Tompkins was
present during our needs assessment and initial actions.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Tompkins for his
love and commitment to Haiti.
Upon completion of our assessment in the area most
affected by Hurricane Matthew, we successfully
coordinated and executed several targeted distributions of
food to communities that have not been served due to their
remote locations and treacherous access. The following is
a summary of the conditions we found, the actions we took
and the needs that we identified.

Our objective findings of

the conditions within the
Grand Anse Department
are that while there has
been some response by the
international community
it has been measured and
is inadequate to meet
immediate or systemic
long-term recovery needs.

ONE VISION INTL - HAITI unfortunate in order to win a hearing to share Christ NEWSLETTER - JAN 2012

Food Security: We experienced wide spread crop decimation and anxiety over food shortages in
remote areas.

Water sanitation: Water is trucked in to the main areas of population. Remote populations are using
untreated ground water.

Shelter & Non Food Items: There has been significant tarp distribution. There is considerable need for
additional tarps. There has been no corrugated metal roofing material distribution.

Medical Action: There are reports of increased Cholera and diarrheal disease. We did not encounter
any confirmed cases of Cholera. We did witness considerable diarrheal disease.

After consideration of the above conditions, our available resources and difficult access, we elected to
conduct food distribution to the remote Grand Anse Department (Jrmie, Morne Baumont, Bonbon and
Abricot). In total we were able acquire, transport and distribute 6,000 LB of food during our initial effort.

There is urgent need of continued and sustained

relief efforts in the specific form of:

Food Security: Distribution to

vulnerable and remote populations.

Water Sanitation & Hygiene: Aqua Tab

distribution for the purification of
drinking water to areas not accessible by
water truck. Hygiene Kits.

Shelter & NFI (Non Food Items):

Additional tarp distribution followed by
corrugated metal roofing material.

Medical Action: Epidemical

surveillance and mobile basic health
units to serve vulnerable and remote
populations.

If you would like to assist in the continued

recovery effort please make your tax-deductible
gift through either One Vision Haiti or one of
our international partners: katelynsfund.org or
IMATeam.org.

Thank you & God bless you,

Francisco Noel, MD
