But you can open t hem from inside easily wit hout t he clerk having t o buzz you out
because t here's a circuit t hat det ect s when a person t ouches t he exit bar t hat deenergizes t he elect rom agnet . This is a sim ple t ouch sensit ive circuit t hat det ect s a
change in capacit ance when a conduct ive body ( like yours) drains it .
I t won't work if you t ouch it wit h gloves since t hey'd insulat e you from t he circuit .
But t ouch it wit h a bare m et al obj ect ...
Take a flat piece of st eel about 2 feet long and 3/ 8" wide and bend it wit h a curve on
t he end in a half- circle 4" in diam et er.
Now, by sim ply slipping t he curved part t hrough t he gap in t he doors, I can t ouch
t he bar on t he inside wit h t his conduct ive m et al and fool t he lock int o t hinking I 'm
inside and unlocking. Takes all of 3 seconds t o insert t his j im m y and unlock t he
doors.
This shows what an elect rom agnet ic lock looks like. Basically a flat st eel plat e
at t ached t o t he door wit h t he elect rom agnet at t ached t o t he fram e. These have a
pull force of several t housand pounds, t hus im possible t o m anually pull open.
