groups discussed and reviewing the results of several reports that described the
problems and opportunities experienced by women in sales.
CCLI was incorporated in Los Angeles in 1961. CCLI's initial product line included all
types of life insurance. Since then it had expanded its business to include all type of
insurance such as health, automobile, professional liability, pensions as well as retirement
program.
There are 15 regional offices and 230 sales representatives out of which 1/3 are females.
1999, CCLI decided to open an office in the south eastern area of United States and as
soon as all staffing and physical details could be resolved. The South Eastern Region
became a reality in 2003 with James Bradford as the area sales manager.
The case basically focuses on steps taken by Diane Flanagan, vice president of human
resources at CCLI to find out about the problems and opportunities experienced by the
women in sales especially after the claim of "Suzette Renoldi" about sexual
discrimination as she wanted to change territory for greater sales opportunities but
Bradford denied.
