For scientists, nanotechnology has been a sector of research that has
run wild with ideas and imagination, with many sounding close to science fiction. With promise of disease fighting, energy generating, or functionally transforming applications, over $24 billion has been invested in the National Nanotechnology Initiative since 2001. [1] With such promise on the horizon, health-related nanotechnology research is satiated with funding, but few of these advances are making it to market.
