1. A simple Brayton cycle using air as the working fluid has a pressure ratio of 8. The
minimumandmaximumtemperaturesinthecycleare310and1160K.Assumingan
isentropicefficiencyof75percentforthecompressorand82percentfortheturbine,
determine(a)theairtemperatureattheturbineexit,(b)thenetworkoutput,and(c)
thethermalefficiency.(Assumeconstantspecificheatatroomtemperature)

2. A gasturbine power plant operates on the simple Brayton cycle with air as the
working fluid and delivers 32 MW of power. The minimum and maximum
temperatures in the cycle are 310 and 900 K, and the pressure of air at the
compressorexitis8timesthevalueatthecompressorinlet.Assuminganisentropic
efficiency of 80 percent for the compressor and 86 percent for the turbine,
determinethemassflowrateofairthroughthecycle.(Assumeconstantspecificheat
atroomtemperature)

3. AstationarygasturbinepowerplantoperatesonanidealregenerativeBraytoncycle
(=100percent)withairastheworkingfluid.Airentersthecompressorat95kPaand
290 K and the turbine at 760 kPa and 1100 K. Heat is transferred to air from an
externalsourceatarateof75,000kJ/s.Determinethepowerdeliveredbythisplant.
