TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Education through provocation. That is my mottoand for good reason! The children of today are
bombarded by a slew of continuous information. Movies, podcasts, cell phone messages, texts, and blogs
are all screaming for their attention. As a result, the voice of the teacher is seen as yet another message
they have to respond to, and more often than not, it is seen as an interference from that which they view
as essential. It is my duty as a teacher, therefore, to grab hold of their attention any way I can and to
convince them that what I am speaking to them about directly pertains to their life and thus is of great
value. Yes, it may be harder now to be a teacher than ever before, but this environment is only going to
separate the exceptional teachers from the mediocre, and dare I say, the poor. I, however, welcome this

challenge and am fully prepared to bring all of my variegated experiences into the classroom to provoke
and challenge the students of today so that they are ready for the world tomorrow.
