SECTION 1: Findings
Congress makes the following findings:
1) Coconut causes around 150 deaths annually
2) The mass of the coconut and the height of which it falls from generates
enough force to kill, or cause severe injury to those who are under the
coconut tree.
3) Annually, 2.5% of trauma admissions are for those injured by falling
coconuts.
SECTION 2: Purpose
The purpose of this bill is to maintain safe zones around coconut trees to protect the
people from coconut-related injuries.
SECTION 3: General Provisions
This act will require all coconut tree owners to have a fence constructed with a
radius of 4 meters around their coconut trees, and restrict trespassing into these
areas only for tree maintenance, or other official use. This will minimize the
danger of coconuts falling on peoples heads, by not letting people walking into
the coconut hazard zone.
This act will require all coconut trees to have nets attached under their coconuts
during its maintenance or other official use which requires people to be under it.
This will secure the coconut as it falls, and not causing the coconut to collide with
ones head.
This act will require people who are required to be under a coconut tree to be
constantly wearing helmets. This will reduce the impact of the coconut in times of
emergency.

Coconut trees: The coconut tree is a member of the family Arecaceae and the only
species of the genus Cocos.
