Blog Question 8: Alice Dreger Presentation
I am going to be completely honest here, since I did not really know
what the presentation was going to be about, I figured it was going to be a
little boring. Although once she started talking, I knew this was going to be
very interesting and informational. She was going to discuss sex
development and may I say, she surprised me with everything. I was
shocked with the information she presented about intersex. In addition, what
it is and how people with it have to deal with it. She also mentioned sex
chromosomes; how we can have more X and Y chromosomes. What I really
liked the most was when she discussed about biology not being our identity.
Science shouldnt be what defines us and who we are. Towards the end of her
presentation, she demonstrated how putting I in LGBTQ can be both
positive and negative for individuals and society. Overall, Alice Dreger did a
really good job in stating her thoughts about sex development.
