Bhoomi Madha Day
Sankara Educational Institutions observed Bhoomi Matha day on 29th July to nurture and
preserve the resources of the earth and to express gratitude to our mother earth. The students
of Sankara Polytechnic (SPC), Sankara College of Science and Commerce (SANSAC) and
Sankara Institute of Management Science (SIMS) observed ten minutes silence with power and
electronic gadgets off and by not touching the ground with foot during this time. Mr. Hardik, II
MBA spoke on the importance of this day and he took pride along with the students in observing
this day. He gave tips on the reduction of CFCs that cause global warming by stressing on the
fact that during traffic signals the vehicles and the AC of the vehicles can be put off and to plant
trees for enhancing the quality of air and protecting environment from disasters.
Student Endeavours
Students of SIMS were invited by The Indian Express on 28.7.2016 to express their opinion on
the topic “The controversy Ridden Rio Olympics and India’.
The final year MBA students organized the freshers’ day and Onam celebrations on 8.9.2016.
The event had many activities which bridged the gap between the freshers and the senior
students. Cultural events added flavour to the show with music and dance by the students.
Dr. C. Priyesh, Director of SIMS addressed the students and motivated the students to have
healthy and fruitful relationships.

Dr. Sundarrajan, Associate Professor was the Invited Speaker at the International Conference
on "Diversity of Entrepreneurship Role and Strategies of Micro finance" organized by Shri
Sakthi Kailash Arts & Science College for Women, Salem held on 22.7.2016.
Prof. Satyanarayana Rentala participated and presented a paper in the Xith International
Conference on Public Policy and Management organized by IIM Bengaluru during Aug 8th to
10th 2016,
Prof. K.P. Radhika participated and presented a paper in the International Conference on
Financial Markets and Corporate Finance organized by Department of Management Studies,
IIT Madras held on 12th and 13th of August 2016,
Prof.S.Sundararajan published an article entitled “Role of higher educational institutions in
reinventing the skills for global competency’ in the ‘Indo Global Journal of Applied Management
Science’; August 2016, Vol.4, Issue 3 pp 20-25 ISSN No.2320-7892.
Prof. K.P. Radhika and Mr. Rojan Prakash — II MBA participated and presented a paper entitled
“Telemarketing strategies of Foreign Banks in India - A case analysis" at the International
Conference on Emerging Trends and Innovations in Digital Marketing, organized by
Department of Commerce, Sankara College of Science and Commerce on 28.09.2016.
Dr. S. Gowri was invited as Chief Guest for the release of the Journal of Intercontinenetal
Management Research Consortium organized by Nirmala College of Women, Coimbatore on
28..09. 2016.

Sankara Institute of Management Science, Coimbatore
organized the first series of industry oriented guest lecture for
its students in the name of Get Invigorated on 2/08/2016,
Mr. Phalani Kumar, General Manager, NCR Corporation was
the speaker who addressed the students on “Global Logistics
and Supply Chain Management Strategies”. The speaker gave
the students an elaborate highlight of the theme logistics and
supply chain management. The brain storming session of
Mr. Phani Kumar was made interactive with many questions by
students and he concluded saying that “Without change there
can be no improvement”. Mr. Sooraj, II MBA welcomed the
gathering and Mr. Hardik, II MBA proposed the vote of thanks.
A Get Invigorated on the topic “An overview of Logistics Mgt”
was organized on 16th August 2016. Mr. Santhosh, Il MBA
welcomed the gathering and Mr. Hardik, Il MBA proposed the
vote of thanks. Mr. C. Manoharan, Executive Operations of
Lol Logistix India Pvt. Ltd., highlighted the four modes of
transportation in international trade and the integration of
logistics with human and physical geography.
The Get Invigorted Ill on Labour Welfare and Industrial
Relations was organized on 20.09.2016 when Mrs. P. Kavitha,
Practising Lawyer, Chennai High Court addressed the
students. Mrs. Kavitha brought out the conceptual framework
of industrial relations, the characteristics and the recent trends
in industrial relations in India with lucid examples for the
students. Mr. Dereck Daniel of | MBA welcomed the gathering

Dr. Y. Sridhar, HR Manager, CTS Technologies, Coimbatore
addressed the students on “Career Options in HR’
The interactive session by Mr. Sridhar highlighted the
significant role played by HR in an organization. The linkages
between HR and the various departments of the organization
were demonstrated with adequate corporate scenario
examples. . Mr. Akhil. S. of | MBA welcomed the gathering and
introduced the chief guest and Miss. Soundarya.M. of | MBA

Inauguration of 16th Batch of MBA
Sankara Institute of Management Science (SIMS) commenced the 16th batch of MBA program
with a grand inauguration on 10.08.2016 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The inaugural was
honoured by Smt. Sandhya Ramachandran, Joint Secretary, Sankara Educational Institutions
and Miss Nithya Ramachandran, Deputy Joint Secretary, Sankara Educational Institutions, who
presided over the inaugural session. . Dr. C. Priyesh, Director SIMS, welcomed the students
and appreciated the students for having chosen SIMS as the destination for MBA and
highlighted the need to be aware of all the latest happenings to probe opportunities for growth.
The Director ensured that every student of SIMS will have to be confident and that will lead to
the path of their goal of getting the best placements after getting their MBA degree. Dr. S. Gowri
proposed the vote of thanks.
The first year MBA students were exposed to an outbound training program organised in
association with Leap Academy, Coimbatore. 60 students participated in the outbound training
that took place in Mathampalayam camp site of Leap Academy, Karamadai. Mr. Premnath and
his team including Commander Velu and Miss. Neelima had organized series of activities for the
students. The outbound training program was organised for a period of two days from 11th
August to 12th August 2016.SIMScript - A Quarterly Newsletter
The final year MBA students with HR, Marketing and Finance specialization, Students
participated in the off campus pooled placement drive organized by KCT Business School,
Coimbatore and Jaro Education Company on 21.09.2016. Mr. Hardik, II MBA-A has been offered for
the post of Management Trainee.
