World War Z
World War Z
War Z
However what we can clearly connote is we don't see the entire film in the opening but
importantly in this case a back story towards the environment around the characters and not
the entire tale of the film.
Importantly when looking at this opening sequence with going into basic shots of characters
with the simple close ups and mid shots and sometimes over the shoulder however this is
not the key aspect it's the simplicity of the credits and how small short clips and news
articles can have a big impact on the on the film as the first moments in the film is what really
draws the attention of the audience into the film and the way in which World War Z has done
it is very clever by not just saying zombie apocalypse but hinting the audience and planting it
into their heads on where this is going.
As the opening continues they added a non diegetic soundtrack over the top which as more
and more disturbing videos are shown the intensity and speed increases adding tension
towards the audience this is to connote the dangers and how important this situation is.
Finally, there are many key factors I can take out of this to replicate and add detail to my
opening to my film such as the idea of news reports this may be done with a simple green
screen to isolate the actor and add them to a background of a news place and add custom
banners which can be easily made. As well as the idea of the music slowly building up as the
images on screen get more intense so therefore the idea of non diegetic music can be used
to help set a clear tone of the background and not the entire narrative which should not be
told.
