Current Scientific Event Guidelines

Each Tuesday (grades 8), Wednesday (grade 7), or Friday (grade 6) you will
come to class with a current scientific event from the previous week. The
guidelines are as follows:
1. Your news must be taken from a printed news source such as a newspaper,
magazine or online database.
2. You must attach the news article to your report. This means you will have to
cut out or print the article. Points will be taken off for missing articles.
3. All articles must be typed or in BLUE OR BLACK INK.
4. Your report must be set up in the format shown below.

First Paragraph (5-8 sentences) - You will give a


summary of what the article is about IN YOUR OWN
WORDS.
Second Paragraph (5-8 sentences) - How is this article
related to science? How does the story affect you and your
community?
Third Paragraph (5-8 sentences) What is your opinion
of the article? How does it make you feel? What does it
make you think about? Do you think the author had a bias
