Indian water works Association (IWWA), is a voluntary body of professionals concerned with wator supply for domestic,
industrial and agricultural uses; its treatment an disposal of wastewater. IWWA focuses basically on the entire ‘Water Cycle"
encompassing the environmental, social, institutional and financing issues. Founded in 1968 with headquarters at Mumbai,
IWWAnow has 32 Centres spread across the country and is very active in conducting different activites in the areas of water
supply and wastewater treatment and disposal. IWWAhas a membership of more than 8200 plus professionals spread all over
the country and abroad. IMWAbrings outa quarterly Journal and a bi-monthly newsletter called Mid-stream. Atthe intemational
level, it has relations with other similar associations such as: Intemational Water Association (IWA), American Water Works
‘Association (AWWA), Japan Water Works Association (JWWA)
Mumbai centre was established in September 1980, having eminent water professionals and engineers as members.
Since beginning the Mumbai centre has successiully organised number of international and national seminars to address
various important water related subjects. ths a large membership base of 1284.

(MJP), a state water ulilty is organising 48th IWWA convention on 21st - 23rd January 2016 at Navi Mumbai featuring the
theme “Water and Sanitation for all”

Drinking water supply and senttation in India continue to be inadequate despite longlasting efforts by the various levels
of govemments and communities at improving coverage. As per census survey in 2011, 92% of the population in India had
access to an improved water sources, but only 35% had access to improved sanitation. Improved services and sanitation
needstobe addressed,
Government of India has launched the ambitious Swachha Bharat Mission on 2nd October 2014 to bring about an
improvement in the general quality oflif in the rural areas, wherein itis focused to accelerate sanitation coverage and complete
ity 2nd October 2019. The objectves of Swachha Bharat Mission are to motivate communities and Panchayat Raj Insttution
{o adopt sustainable sanitation practices and facilties through awareness creation and health education as well as to
encourage cost effective and appropriate tochnologios for ecologically safe and sustainable sanitation. Keoping in lino with
‘Swachha Bharat Mission, the theme of convention is decided as “Water and Sanitation for all. The convention is aimed to

Programme in Brief
On 21st January 2016 there shall be grand inaugural function with center stage actvities of installation of incoming
president, award distribution and chief guest address. The inauguration of worldciass exhibition is another important activity of
the day. This shall be followed by Raman endowment and Modek memorial lectures. Thereafter there shall be few technical
sessions, annual general meeting and entertainment programme. 22nd January 2016 shall be filled with lot of technicalsessions and in the evening there shall be a sumptuous banquet dinner near Galeway of India, 23rd January 2016 shall begin
with few more technical sessions andthe convention shall end with a valedictory function,
‘nperallel there shall be proaramme for ladies, to visit iconic places and shopping. The Juhu beach, Pall hill, Girgeon
Chaupati, Taraporwela Aquarium, Hanging garden at Malbar hil, Prince of Wales Museum, sijamata Udyan, Sanjay Gandhi
Netional Park, Aarey Colony and of course Gateway of india shall be covered during site seeing. A visit to Elephanta caves is
planned on 24th January 2076 which includes ajoyful journey through ferry service.
