PATRN DE GENERACIN DE ORACIONES EN INGLS
En Ingls, las oraciones se generan con un patrn fijo ( Sujeto + Verbo +
Complemento + Conector ), de haber un punto seguido o un punto aparte se elimina el
conector si lo deseas. Este patrn dista mucho del patrn de generacin de oraciones
en Espaol debido a que en Espaol no existe un nico patrn de generacin de
oraciones. Por esta razn debemos evitar las traducciones textuales y en cambio,
debemos encontrar las equivalencias ms apropiadas. A continuacin te presentamos
unos ejemplos que darn cuenta de la irregularidad para la generacin de oraciones en
el idioma Espaol.

* Como la forma verbal WENT significa fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos fueron, etc. no
podramos saber de quin estamos hablando, a menos que indiquemos explcitamente
el sujeto de nuestra oracin al hablar en Ingls.
c) De haber ms de un Sujeto, ordnelos como usted desee.
En el idioma Espaol, evitamos nombrar en primer lugar la Primera Persona
Singular (YO) cuando estamos hablando de varios sujetos. Lo normal o estndar es
nombrar todos los otros sujetos primero y al final decir YO. Sin embargo, esta
situacin no ocurre en el Idioma Ingls ya que la persona que habla decide en qu
orden va a nombrar los sujetos cuando suele haber ms de uno. Adems, si no
queremos herir la susceptibilidad de quien nos escucha, normalmente, en Ingls,
ordenamos los sujetos siguiendo un orden alfabtico y/o nombrando a las damas antes
que a los caballeros ms que siguiendo un orden determinado por la importancia que
le demos a cada uno de los sujetos por separado.

- Mi mam fue al cine con mi hermana y se encontraron en un lugar
predeterminado porque una no poda ir a buscar a la otra. Pero mi
hermana no pudo llamar a su casa porque ella no le haba dado su
telfono previamente. Ella dijo que nunca ms saldra con la otra.
- Mi mam y mi hermana fueron al cine el fin de semana y ellas se
encontraron en un lugar previamente acordado por ambas. Pero mi
hermana no pudo llamar a mi mam porque mi mam no le haba
dado su nmero de telfono a mi hermana antes. Mi hermana dijo
que ella nunca ms volvera a salir con mi mam en el futuro.

f) Para unir dos o ms oraciones se usan conectores que dan cuerpo al texto.
En Espaol no es necesario usar los ilativos para darle cuerpo a un texto ya
que la entonacin y la acentuacin le dan los matices a las distintas oraciones
incluidas en ste. Adems, el idioma Espaol, a pesar de ser tan rico en vocablos y en
sinnimos y antnimos, normalmente es vago y poco claro y hasta en doble o triple
sentido dependiendo del contexto. Sin embargo, el uso de ilativos o palabras o frases
conectivas ayuda mucho al anglo-parlante para que pueda organizar mejor su texto y
para que pueda ir entregando los matices necesarios al hablar o escribir.
Normalmente, los ilativos en Ingls reemplazan a la puntuacin y de haber un punto
seguido o un punto aparte, se elimina el conector o ilativo si lo deseas. Finalmente,
debemos agregar que el Ingls es un conjunto de oraciones cortas y claras que al ir
unidas al conector correspondiente le van dando mayor exactitud al mensaje
entregado, evitando hablar como si estuviramos mandando un telegrama, como suele
suceder en ms de una ocasin en el idioma Espaol.

LO QUE NUNCA DEBEMOS OLVIDAR SOBRE LOS SUJETOS,
VERBOS, COMPLEMENTOS Y CONECTORES EN INGLS
Para evitar cometer los errores tpicos de un hispano-parlante y enfocado
especialmente hacia la norma chilena, vamos a describir algunas caractersticas del
idioma Ingls en relacin con los Sujetos, los Verbos, los Complementos y los
Conectores o Ilativos. El siguiente cuadro resumen ha sido diseado para que sepas
cada uno de los elementos que debes considerar al inventar una oracin en Ingls.

Es muy poco comn que el sujeto de una oracin sea una palabra sola,
excepto cuando hablamos de nombres de pila o cosas abstractas, ( i.e. Mario is...,
Andrea works at..., Death is ) ya que lo normal o estndar es que el sujeto de la
oracin vaya acompaado de ciertos monoslabos y dislabos conocidos como los
artculos. Los artculos determinan al sujeto y van delante de ste.

auxiliar, los cuales no necesitan de un verbo auxiliar para formar oraciones negativas
o interrogativas. Adems, a diferencia de los verbos no auxiliares, los verbos modales
no necesitan agregar la partcula to cuando van seguidos de otro verbo al formar
alguna terminacin verbal en -ar, -er, -ir, con la nica excepcin del auxiliar ought

La calidad de irregular del verbo LEARN es comn en Ingls Britnico, mientras que
en Ingls Americano es comn usarlo como verbo regular. Los verbos BET y
DREAM pueden ser regulares o irregulares y no tienen ninguna implicancia especial.

Existe una gran cantidad de verbos que van seguidos de alguna preposicin.
Sin embargo, entre estos verbos tenemos un grupo que no acepta cualquier
preposicin y normalmente es una y excepcionalmente pueden ser dos las
preposiciones que podran seguirle. Adems de esta limitante, debemos agregar que
en la mayora de estos verbos la preposicin que le sigue en Ingls no es la misma que
le sigue en Espaol, lo que da origen a muchos errores de parte de los hispanoparlantes. Otro aspecto interesante de estos verbos preposicionales es que slo
algunos de ellos aceptan un objeto o pronombre objetivo entre el verbo y la
preposicin, en el resto de los verbos se debe agregar el objeto o pronombre objetivo
despus de la preposicin. Mostraremos con las siglas sb (somebody) y sth
(something) el lugar en que se debe agregar el objeto cuando fuese necesario. No

detalles que necesitan el sujeto y el verbo para que la oracin tenga sentido o sea clara.
Si en nuestra oracin agregamos slo un complemento no tenemos problemas, sin
embargo, los problemas surgen cuando tenemos varios complementos y debemos
ordenarlos correctamente. Para hacerlo bien debemos preguntarnos cmo, dnde y
cundo y en este orden vamos agregando y ordenando complementos cuando
corresponda.

Los adverbios son palabras o grupos de palabras que agregan algn detalle
especial a alguna parte de la oracin. En nuestro caso seran los adverbios de Manner
-que nos dan informacin sobre cmo se realiza la accin, los adverbios de Place -que
nos dan informacin sobre el lugar o en dnde se realiza la accin, y los adverbios de
Time -que nos dan informacin sobre el momento en que se realiza la accin.
Es importante tener clara esta diferencia ya que muchas palabras se pueden
confundir debido a que en nuestro idioma hay muchas palabras homfonas (suenan
iguales pero se escriben y usan de forma distinta) que se usa en los distintos
complementos pero en Ingls existen distintos adverbios para dicha palabra en
Espaol adems del hecho que cada una de estas palabras se usa en una posicin
distinta dentro del complemento en Ingls. Este punto se verifica claramente al
momento de buscar en un diccionario o decidir qu palabra usaremos para traducir
palabras o adverbios tales como: solo, slo, de Chile, de chocolate, desde Santiago,
desde ayer, en auto, en Chile, a pie, a Chile, atrs, prximo, cerca de, etc.

1. The Pure Vowels in English
En Ingls existen 12 (doce) vocales distintas y no solamente 5 (cinco) vocales
como en el idioma Espaol. Esta diferencia hace cometer muchos errores a los
hablantes hispanos ya que pronuncian las vocales en Ingls como si stas fueran las
vocales espaolas, lo que produce una interferencia fontica y semntica a los angloparlantes que los escuchan.
Con entrenamiento auditivo y de modulacin se puede eliminar este problema y
hacer que el alumno pronuncie los sonidos tal como un Angloparlante lo hara.
A continuacin describiremos cada una de las vocales en Ingls. Esta descripcin
incluye indicaciones de articulacin y un paralelo con la correspondiente vocal en
Espaol.
Recuerda que no slo debemos dominar la sintaxis y la gramtica del Ingls, ni
tampoco saber bastante vocabulario, para poder hablarlo, entenderlo y que nos
entiendan, sino que adems es sumamente importante poder pronunciar los sonidos en
Ingls lo ms parecido a como lo hara un anglo-parlante. Esto eliminara las posibles
interferencias fonticas y semnticas que se produciran si no pronunciramos
correctamente.
1.1 La vocal i
Existen 2 (dos) fonemas i en Ingls. La i corta y la i larga. Esta
diferencia no radica en la duracin del sonido sino en la articulacin y la calidad de
ste. Para articular la i corta se mantienen los labios semi-cerrados y
mantenindonos serios. Mientras que para articular la i larga se debe mantener los
labios abiertos y articulamos la i larga como si estuviramos sonriendo.
En Ingls se produce un cambio de significado en las palabras slo
cambiando la i corta por la i larga o viceversa.

La pronunciacin y articulacin de la vocal e en Ingls y en espaol son
muy parecidas y sus diferencias son mnimas. Slo podra existir alguna similitud y
confundirse al compararla con la i corta en Ingls.
Existe una variacin del fonema / e /, la vocal N11 / 3: /, que se aplica a
las combinaciones de letras -ur-,-er- y a la combinacin -ir- en Ingls Americano.

En Ingls existen 4 sonidos a. El sonido a para la letra a, el sonido
a correspondiente a la letra u, el sonido a para la combinacin -ar y la forma
dbil sin acentuar de la vocal a.
El sonido a para la letra a se hace pronunciando la letra a al igual
que en Espaol pero lateralizando el sonido / e /. El sonido a correspondiente a la
letra u se hace idntico a la letra a en Espaol ya que ambos sonidos son
frontales. El sonido a para la combinacin -ar se hace echando la lengua hacia atrs
y articulando la a sola, eliminando la erre, en Ingls Britnico, y pronunciando la

LOS LINKINGS O ASIMILACIONES
Los idiomas gramaticales como el Espaol, el Francs, etc. le dan gran nfasis a
la enunciacin clara y precisa de las palabras evitando usar las asimilaciones -cambiar
un sonido por la presencia de otro sonido o acortar la pronunciacin de una serie de
sonidos llegando a pronunciar diferente o en forma aglomerada. Lo ptimo en un
idioma gramatical es no asimilar ya que se asocia a una persona de baja clase social o
simplemente se considera vulgar o errneo. Adems, el orden de los elementos de la
oracin ( sintaxis ) es poco claro o acepta como vlido cualquier orden que le quieras
dar a los elementos de la oracin. Sin embargo, los idiomas fonticos como el
Alemn, el Ingls, etc. usan con mucha mayor frecuencia las asimilaciones ya que las
consideran de alto nivel tanto cultural como lingstico por lo que el no asimilar se
considerara como de un nivel cultural inferior o simplemente est mal pronunciado.
Adems, los idiomas fonticos tienen una sintaxis fija ya que al generar una oracin
debemos poner primero el sujeto, luego debemos decir la accin y finalmente
debemos agregar los complementos en el siguiente orden: Adverbios de Manner, de
Place y de Time. Los idiomas fonticos son pobres en su stock de vocabulario,
expresado en el nmero de palabras distintas que incluye, as que las mismas palabras
se pueden usar en distintas posiciones de la oracin lo que afecta su significado.

Hay una gran variedad de preguntas para averiguar cmo es una persona. Es
obvio que para describir a alguien necesito saber los adjetivos ms comunes utilizados
en Ingls.
Al describir a una persona, podemos hacerlo desde dos aspectos muy distintos; el
aspecto psicolgico y el fsico. Para cada uno de estos aspectos se utilizan distintos
adjetivos y distintas construcciones gramaticales si queremos preguntar o dar
informacin con relacin a la descripcin de personas.
Revisaremos a continuacin las preguntas ms comunes para cada aspecto.
