Project 1

ECE 4200/5200 POWER ELECTRONICS FALL 2016 PROJECT #1 DUE: 10/03/2016

The rectifier circuit shown in Fig. 1 has an ac source voltage of 240 V input at 60 Hz.
The R-L load has R = 10 and L = 100 mH. You may change the transformer to any
other workable transformer.

Draw the circuit diagram required. Simulate Fig. 1 using SPICE.

(Using SPICE only, obtain the following:

(iii)

(a) the average and rms values of the output voltage,

(iv)

(b) the average and rms values of a diode voltage, I am using V(D2-1)

(v)

(c) the average and rms values of the load current,

(vi)

(d) the average and rms values of a diode current, using D2 diode

(vii)

(c) the rms value of the line current of the source,

(viii)

(e) the power absorbed by the load, and

(ix)

(f) the power factor of the load.

(x)
(xi)

(xii)

Use SPICE to plot the following:

(a) the output voltages v01, v02, and v0 using the same time-axis,

(b) the input voltages vac1 and vac2 using the same time-axis,

(xiii)

(c) the diode voltages vD1 and vD6 using the same time-axis.

(xiv)

(d) the input currents i ac1, iac2, and output current i an using the same
time-axis, and

(xv)

(e) the diode currents i D3, i D5, i Dm, and i Dn using the same time-axis.

Show the input file and all the necessary output waveforms. Also include SPICE
diagram in the final report.
