    Two summers ago, the author took a holiday in Scotland. They drove there from London but their car broke down on the motorway, forcing them to spend their first night in Birmingham. When they arrived in Edinburgh, they had trouble finding a good hotel as they were all full. Unable to decide what to do, they eventually booked a bed and breakfast where they stayed for the week. While there, they visited Edinburgh Castle and the Arts Festival, buying many souvenirs. They had wanted to visit Loch Ness as well but didn't have enough time as it was quite far away. The weather was generally good, though it rained on the day they left.
