What is Amendment 21?

Amendment 21 cancels the 18th amendment. The


18th amendment bans the sale or transportation of
alcoholic liquors. In the 21st amendment, it repeals
the 18th amendment, and lets people sell, import,
and transport, alcoholic liquors. Amendment 21 was
passed by Congress on February 20, 1933 and was
ratified by the states, taking effect on December 5,
1933 How we use amendment 21 today, is that it
allows us to make, sell, and use alcohol.

Why was it passed?


The 21st Amendment was passed to cancel the 18th
Amendment. The 18th Amendment The 18th
Amendment had banned the manufacture, sale,
transportation, exportation or importation of
alcoholic liquors in the United States. Passing the
21st Amendment started the transportation and sale
of alcoholic liquors.
