Lomb, a Rochester, New York-based medical equipment manufacturer, to create a
certain kind of gear for pilots because of some problem that they faced during high
altitude flying. The prototype was created in 1936 which used Plastic as the main body
frame material. Subsequent years saw various improvement in the product. In the
remodelling in year 1939, they replaced plastic with metal and patented them as X, as

from a less commonly known austrian pastry called Kipferl which was more of a loaf.
Xs characteristic shape is recognised worldwide with some origin stories saying it got
