With the levels of vacuum we are working to, all welds

need to be subject to helium leak test, which will find

much smaller leaks than can be found by other methods.
This type of test equipment is difficult to use off-site. I
know it may be difficult, but our recommendation would
be to transport the units back here for us to repair here.
We could offer 2 options:
1. When the unit arrives, we can carry out an
inspection, create an estimate for repair and get
approval from you for all costs for repair. The
minimum cost for a repair involving mass-spec, repair
of external areas and vacuum pumping to as new
condition (including renewal of molecular sieve etc)
would be 1500, but if internal repairs are needed,
costs can increase substantially.
2. The other option we are prepared to offer is a
fixed price repair. This would cost 5000 per tank,
and cover the following:
a. Repair or replacement of any internal pipes
that require work
b. Repair or replacement of rear dome end
c. Repair or replacement of tank support if
required
d. All inspection, testing and pumping to as
new condition
We would exclude from this scope repairs or
replacement of the inner vessel, repairs to obvious
mechanical damage to the outer vessel, repairs to
frames etc. If we come across these issues, we would
stop work, quote you, and if you did not want to
proceed, the unit could be collected from us at no
charge. (We exclude these items as in the past, we
have had items returned for repair under warranty
that have been seriously misused, including one
nitrogen tank, less than 1 year old, that had been
filled with acid, which had corroded the inner vessel
and was full of holes!)
It would take a minimum of 5 weeks and maximum of 8
weeks from receipt to final repair of unit including

pumping time. We could repair 2 tanks at a time, which

may help you in cost of shipping (the 2 off 10ft tanks join
together as a 20ft for low cost freight).
