Jackson, Lundon Creshett., Jeffery, Kathryn E, Johnson, Rita Merklin, and California State University,
Sacramento. Impact of Federal Student Aid on Completion Rates in the California Community
Colleges System (2012). Print.
Through careful analysis of statistics within the university, Jackson and other authors
establish a valid standpoint on the correlation between the completion of a college
education and the burden of student loan rates. A peer-reviewed and respected article
among various professors, this entry will aid the purpose of my documentary by showing
that there is in fact a relation between loans and first year student retention.

Within the website, there are numerous statistics that relate the amount of money that
first-year students borrow on a regular basis. Many sources do not take into account the
sheer amount of students that will take out loans during their first year of schooling. This
information can be used to relate how much money it will take students to be debt-free to
how good of a job a degree must be able to offer a student.

While some say growth is good, this news story shows that growth to students also
presents a hassle in completing their education. Using the voice and opinions of students
currently enrolled in the university, the report establishes credibility. This will be a great
addition to my documentary by adding emphasis on how class impactment directly
affects students.
