HEAT WAVE ANKLE WARMERS

Skill Level: Easy


Size: One size (stretches to fit): approx. 10 long x 9 circ. at narrowest point, 11 circ. at widest point
(unstretched). Ankle warmers will stretch up to 11 circ. at narrowest point, 15 circ. at widest point.
Materials:
200 yds. worsted wt. (4) yarn
Size J/10 (6 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to achieve gauge
Tapestry needle
Gauge: 11 sts & 13 rows = 4 in single crochet on size J/10 (6 mm) hook
Pattern notes:
Ankle warmers are worked lengthwise. Ribbed fabric is achieved by working in back loop only (BLO)
on every row.
Terms/Abbreviations: back loop only (BLO), beginning (beg), chain (ch), circumference (circ.), half
double crochet (hdc), hook (hk), remaining (rem), repeat (rep), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st),
stitch (st), yarn over (yo)
Ankle Warmers (make 2)

Row 1 (RS): Ch 35, sc in 2nd ch from hk and in next 5 ch, *hdc in next 8 ch, sc in next 6 ch, rep from
* once, turn (34 sts)
NOTE: On Row 2 and all following rows, work in back loop only (BLO).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in BLO of first sc and in next 5 sc, *hdc in BLO of next 8 sc, sc in BLO of next 6 sc,
rep from * once, turn.
Rows 3-20: Rep Row 2. At end of Row 20, do not cut yarn.
Finishing:
Fold piece with right sides together. Working through both thicknesses, sl st in ea st across, forming
a seam. Fasten off and weave in tails. Turn piece right side out.
Make second ankle warmer same as first.
