English 1B Annotated Bibliography

As part of the research process for your final paper, you will be required to submit a 4-source
annotated bibliography. The sources must be found outside of class reading, must be secondary,
and must be scholarly. One scholarly source must support a counter argument to your planned
thesis. You should show the arc of the authors argument in each annotation, as well as make
clear in your annotation how each source is relevant to your argument. You will also include a
one page reflection on your research process, indicating where you located your sources and
how you might put those sources into conversation with one another. A sample annotated bib is
posted on the course site.

Format suggestions:
-Summarize arc of argument. What is the argument/thesis? The CSC? What are the main
supporting points? Include some quotes to illustrate, along with page citations.
-Does the article have any short-comings? What are they? Can you address points further in your
paper?
- How will you apply the main points of this article in your paper?
-How does this article relate to any others you have chosen?
