Phone: (570) 313-4748 Email: lisa.shupp@fcps.org To Whom It May Concern: It is with great privilege that I submit my application for the position of assistant principal. I recently completed my internship at Middletown Middle School and obtained my masters degree in Educational Leadership from Frostburg State University. My internship has afforded me many opportunities to work with our stakeholders in various capacities. The experience was challenging, yet quite rewarding. At this time, I am ready to continue this journey. The role of assistant principal is an advocate for students, supporter of teachers, and liaison between the school and community therefore, each day brings a new set of challenges and opportunities. In this role of administrative intern, I was able to work with staff and students, as well as extend a leadership role to families and the community. Success was often a collaborative effort and the need for communication was never so apparent. Working with the staff from a leadership role was quite unique. Maintenance staff, custodians, food service personnel, health technicians, teachers and secretaries work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a successful school day. Working with these individuals was eye opening and rewarding. Being a visible presence was always important. Throughout my experience as a teacher at FCPS, I have worked in various leadership roles. I am a member of the Continuous School Improvement team, a member of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support team, a member of Educator Effectiveness committee and I volunteer as t-ball coach and team mom. Each one of these opportunities reinforced the importance of effective communication and collaboration. As an assistant principal, I know my role would require a multifaceted approach to meet the challenges of the position. Staff, students, and the community will look to me for leadership. My development as a teacher and intern has helped me prepare for this new journey, which I am eager to begin. Thank you for your consideration.
