Speaking out against hate as a form of misdirection
Jason Brett Mullinder
Haters gonna hate.
Don't hate the Player, hate the game. This idea has caught on pretty widely in recent years, a fairly common response to practically any form of criticism. In less "street" environs, it may take the form of defense from negative energy. A quick answer to nullify the valid points made by opposition often takes a tact ic of attacking the person who has attacked an action or idea. Firstly there is a self esteem issue at play where any question is considered a personal attack, instead of making an attempt to explain the rationale behind ac tions or the complexity of a situation, the questioner is labelled. Secondly the premise that "I am good and everything I do is good" underlies the response. Querying the motives or nature of something is not in itself a questioning of so mones character.
