Acme Inc. partners with Ikea to unveil new home decoration line for students
(College Park, MD) Acme Inc., with partner Ikea, takes a stab at interior decorations by releasing a
new line of dormitory decorations for the students at the University of Maryland, College Park. The line
called Aesthetic features customizable cork tablets that self-adhere to any surface, including the
cinderblock walls in college dorms.
Acme Inc. totes many different popular products, but we decided that interior design
decorations needed to be on the list, said Product Designer Maggie Low. We worked with the
University of Maryland to bring the most versatile and customizable product to its students.
Acme Inc. and Ikea have set up kiosks At the UMD Bookstore, where students will be able to
connect their smart phones and upload pictures that will be printed on five inch tablets for $5.99 a
piece.
Students at the University of Maryland love their school, but are less fond of their dorm rooms.
Elizabeth Phan said, I really dont like the cinderblock walls. The first thing I did when I moved in was
put up as many posters as I could to cover them up. Now, with Aesthetic, students can cover their
walls in style. I love that I get to personalize whats on my walls at school. It really makes me feel like
Im at home, said Phan.
Currently, the tablets by Aesthetic are only available at the University of Maryland Bookstore,
which is open Monday- Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is located in the Adele H. Stamp Student
Union.
