It is my absolute pleasure to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Cesar Manjarrez.
Cesar has been an exceptional student teacher for the entirety of his time with me at Cienega
High School. Mr. Manjarrez came in with a high skill level and has continued to fine tune and
improve his methods every day and is without a doubt ready for his own band program.

Cesar has shown a desire to improve upon his high initial skill set each day. While he did not
need to start his student teaching until August, he was with the band during band camp starting
the second week of July. Mr. Manjarrez is constantly looking for opportunities to teach as is
evident by his persistence to start early, before the school year started and staying well past
the official finish date. He immediately started working with the woodwinds in marching band
during band camp and branched out to the brass and percussion students as well. His report
with the students, staff and parents is genuine and above reproach, the students enjoy working
with him in class and consistently talk to him after class on a variety of topics.

Mr. Manjarrez has been in control of the jazz band since the first day of school. During this
process, not only have the students improved in all areas of their playing but he is also
responsible for their grades, picking literature and will be taking the class to a festival. He has
taken a young group of students and molded them into the ensemble that he wants and all of
the students have responded well to his leadership and direction. Cesar is also working with
the concert bands and AP Music Theory class creating a great atmosphere for the students to
learn in.

I cannot recommend Cesar Manjarrez any higher than I am right now. I know that if I had to
leave, the band program would be in very good hands and I would hire him in any music
position. He is an extremely talented musician and will be an even better educator.
