ANNOUNCEMENT DIRECTOR BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus G. RAGHURAMA I am pleased to announce that Prof. G. Raghurama will assume charge as Director of the K. K. Birla Goa Campus effective November 1, 2016. Prof. Raghurama served as Director of the Pilani Campus for five years from April 2010 to April 2015. He relocated to the Goa Campus on May 2015 wishing to invest more time on his research and teaching interests. During his Directorship of the Pilani Campus, he successfully led the Vision 2020-Mission 2012 Project, provided leadership to Project Parivartan from concept through completion of major milestones: the signature and iconic NAB (New Academic Building), the New Faculty Housing Complex, the New Student Housing Complex, and the Renovation and Augmentation of Ram Bhawan. Between 2010 and 2012, Prof. Raghurama also led the redesign and rollout of an improved Performance Appraisal System. Prior to his appointment as Director of the Pilani Campus, he was Deputy Director (Academic). He has served as Dean of Admissions and Dean of Faculty Division-II. As Dean (Admissions) he led the team in the design and implementation of the pioneering computer based online test BITSAT, which till today remains a benchmark for standardized, fully computerized admission tests in India. Prof. Raghurama joined BITS, Pilani in 1987 and was appointed Professor in 2000, and Senior Professor in 2012 in the Electronics & Instrumentation Group at BITS. He teaches courses and guides research in the areas of Electronic Sciences, Communication Systems, Telecommunications and Networks. He has published more than 40 research papers in journals and conferences. He completed his M.Sc. from IIT Madras, and his Ph.D. in Physics from IISc Bangalore. He is recipient of a Research grant from Nokia in 2000, the Faculty Champion Award from Microsoft in 2007,and has been recognized and felicitated by SkillTree Knowledge Consortium with the title SkillTree Education Evangelist of India 2014. He was also a member of the Technical Advisory Board of Cradle Technologies, Pune in its initial years.Prof Raghurama visited a number of reputed universities in Australia, USA and Ireland to work out collaborations with BITS Pilani. He is an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction, and takes keen interest in music, theatre, world cinema and indoor games. His wife, Dr Geetha B is an Associate Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences in BITS Pilani. His elder son, Tejaswi is employed in a technology company and younger son Manaswi is pursuing his PhD in Ecology.
