Qualitative Analysis Project

1.

What patterns are similar themes emerge? Perspectives on how/why special

education has changed. Both researchers brought out points of emotions that the
interviewee experienced. Excitement was the only code that both researchers had in
common although Researcher 2 was the only one to actually use it when coding, used to
describe the interviewees emotion in Q11.
2.

What differences effect drawing conclusions about the document? Researcher 1s

codes started out analyzing more of the emotions of the interviewee then pointed out the
possible contributors to those emotions (parents, state department of education, lawyers)
whereas Researcher 2 seemed to just stick to analyzing the interview based off of
emotions (i.e. disapproval and optimism). For the majority of the interview, the
researchers placed codes in the same areas, although one researcher may have had
additional codes in places where the other researcher did not. For example, in the
interviewees last response, Researcher 1 put a code for parents but Researcher 2 put a
code for disapproval and less or no involvement with community. Then in the very
last code, Researcher 1 used lawyers whereas Researcher 2 put another code for
disapproval. These differences effect drawing conclusions about the document because
the codes dont show similarities in what the researchers analyzed.
3.

How could we display this data? By using a concept map (below)

4. Design a graphic illustration to represent the relationships between the themes that
were used in the analyzed transcript you believe best reduces the data collected. (See
sample graphic)
