Re: Media Center Program Evaluation
As a school library media specialist candidate, Sharon LaVigne had to complete an evaluation
of the Smitha Middle School Media Center Program, in collaboration with Brenda Spier, School
Library Media Specialist. This evaluation was based upon the 2015 Library Media Program
Evaluation Rubric. The rubric consists of six categories that assess target indicators and levels
of proficiency. Below is a summary of the results of the evaluation, and action steps. In the
table below, B is Basic, P is Procient, and E is Exemplary. Also, the abbreviation LMS will refer
to the Library Media Specialist.

The LMS will meet with ELA and Reading


teachers to discuss curriculum maps, and
lesson plans to know what books/novels the
teacher will use for each semester. The
LMS can then pull resources for extended
learning and activities that support the
efforts of the classroom teacher. The LMS
can then come into the classroom to
promote certain activities and books related
to the current unit or lesson.

School is working on getting TPDB in


working order and the proper drops
available and accessible so that streaming
video can be used on a daily basis. Waiting
on this has caused a delay in progress.

LMS will begin promoting GALILEO on a


regular basis. LMS will provide
professional development to faculty and
staff on the benefits and usefulness of
GALILEO.
