PHOSPHATE

Code: 20102662G

They are included in the nonmetallic minerals are minerals that have
a high content of phosphorus. The main use of phosphates is like the
fundamental input of fertilizers (Agro).
Among the most important minerals have phosphates (apatite
varieties):

Carbon apatite Ca10CO3 (PO4) 6

Chlorine apatite Ca5Cl (PO4) 3

Fluoro apatite Ca5F (PO4) 3

Monazite

Pyromorphite

Vivianita

Fe2 + 3 (PO 4) 2 8H2O

Turqueza

Cu2 + Al6 (PO4) 4 (OH) 8 4H2O

Brazilianite

(EC, La) PO4 important for rare earth

Pb5Cl (PO4) 3

NaAl3 (PO4) 2 (OH) 4

Phosphates in Peru
In Peru the phosphate deposits have a sedimentary origin and are
located on the continental shelf, cold areas with rising waters.

Phosphate production in Peru is developed mainly north in Bayovar,

which is a giant phosphate deposit and represents a substantial
worldwide percent, due to the fuel tank capacity is required the
investment of large sums of money (from the private sector). The
company in charge of the exploitation of the deposit of Bayovar is the
Brazilian company Vale Do Rio Doce.
Other notable deposits in national territory are:

Sechura - Pirua

yauli - Jun n

Ocucaje - Ica

Huancan - Puno

Phosphates production worldwide and in Latin America

Worldwide production of phosphate revolves around five countries
(Morocco, China, USA, South Africa and Jordan) which provide about
90% of world reserves. Phosphate production worldwide has a
sedimentary origin 85% and 15% igneous origin. The phosphate
deposits in Peru are associated with diatomite.
Peru is in 9th place in the production of phosphate rock.
At the level of Latin America's main producers are Brazil with 55% in
Latin America (7th in the international market), Peru follows with 29%
to Latin American level (9th worldwide), Mexico with 8% in Latin
America , Venezuela and Colombia.
