Writers always have a purpose and understand how the type of genre, audience, current situation, and said
purpose influence their writing and thus their audiences.

Use writing tools to understand and write using different methods to achieve different results
Analyze how different types of writing are influenced by and perceived according to grammar,
flow, and personalization
Learn how to vary tone, mood, type, and structure with an intended purpose

Understanding Reading
Understand and evaluate ideas while reading. This allows writers to separate facts from opinions, judge
validation, realize the audience, make connections, and understand the authors purpose.

Try to actually learn when you read


Critique their own work and others work, read different kinds of work, and pinpoint the
importance of choices across all works and how each aspect impacts the readers
Evaluate the accuracy and likelihood of research and sources

Writing
Writers use many tools to make, build, and finish ideas for works. Writers dont usually use a specific
system when writing, but rather alter their process to different types of assignments.

Use different ways to edit or revise


Use other people to help improve writing and receive and respond to critique
Use tools to better understand ideas of their own and ideas of others

Rules include grammar, diction, spelling, and citation.

Understand how, why, and when the rules have exception
